Wash the Down Sleeping Bag only when it is really necessary

By admin | December 16, 2009

Since you want to get the most out of the money you spent for a quality down sleeping bag, taking good care of it can help you enjoy many years of warm comfort. Wash the Down Sleeping Bag only when it is really necessary because each washing makes it lose some of its loft. One good way to wash it without damaging the down is to hand wash it in the bathtub. Another way is to use cold water with the gentle cycle on a front-load washer at a laundromat. Be sure to use a mild soap (such as Ivory Flakes or Woolite), but don’t use fabric softener or bleach. Tumble dry on the lowest heat setting. Definitely don’t take it to the dry cleaners – some of the down’s natural oil may get stripped away by solvents.
