A Quick Tip When Buying Clementine Trees

By admin | September 3, 2010

A clementine is a seedless mandarin orange.  It’s smaller than a navel orange and its skin is more orange in color than a tangerine.  The fruit ripens in the winter, and it is seedless.  If it has seeds, then it means that bees have cross-pollinated it with another citrus fruit tree.

When buying clementine trees, you may want to purchase one that is at least 2-3 years old.  Don’t buy little saplings that are only 6 to 9 month old, even if they are cheaper, unless you want to wait 1-2 years for it to begin bearing fruit.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a clementine tree in your garden?  Your kids can have a clementine during lunch, or you can make home-made clementine orange juice if you have your own clementine tree.
